NIFA Partnership Program

Strengthening Agricultural Communities Through Research, Education, and Innovation

Farmers and ranchers face challenges that require new solutions. Through our partnership with the USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA), NLFR is helping producers access the training, tools, and leadership skills they need to thrive. This collaboration expands opportunities nationwide, supporting education, sustainable practices, and innovation while preparing the next generation of agricultural leaders.

Our Goals & Impact

Through the NLFR–NIFA partnership, we are committed to:

• Advancing agricultural education for underserved farming and ranching communities.

• Providing access to training in sustainable farming, conservation, and farm management.

• Strengthening leadership skills among emerging and established agricultural leaders.

• Increasing adoption of research-based practices that improve productivity and resilience.

How We Bring NIFA Resources to Farmers

The USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture provides leadership and funding for programs that drive agricultural innovation, from scientific research to farmer training.

NLFR ensures that producers—especially those from underserved communities—have access to these opportunities. Our focus areas include:

Education & Capacity Building – Training in farm management, water conservation, and emerging agricultural technologies.

Community Engagement – Connecting farmers and ranchers with local, state, and national resources to support success.

Leadership Development – Equipping the next generation of agricultural leaders to guide their communities and shape the industry.

What We’re Building Right Now

Our current efforts under the NIFA partnership are laying the groundwork for long-term success.

Examples of initiatives include:

• Designing training modules on farm management and conservation practices.

• Coordinating pilot workshops to test and refine new curriculum for farmers and ranchers.

• Building partnership networks between producers, universities, and agricultural agencies.

• Preparing E-learning resources to make training accessible nationwide.
